The most popular type of leagues are the standard draft leagues. These types of leagues are begun with teams in which the players are selected in a serpentine style of draft. Lineups can then be selected by the owners on a weekly basis. This is usually based on the number of players per position as allowed by league rules. There are actually two different types of standard draft leagues. These are total points and head to head. The difference between the two is that with a head to head league each team is matched up against a different team each week. The team that receives the most points is recorded as the winning team. Teams with the best records at the end of the season play in playoff games at the end of the season in order for a final champion to be determined. With a total points league, wins and losses are not tracked. Instead, points are accumulated on a continual basis. Standings are then determined according to the total points of the teams. At the end of the regular season, the teams with the highest number of total points meet for playoff games.
The auction draft league can also be comprised of either a total points system or a head to head system. Unlike the standard draft league; however, the auction draft league utilizes owners who have an amount of money that is predetermined that they can bid on for players to complete their rosters.
With the dynasty league, players are on the same roster from one season to the next unless they are released or they are traded. Drafts are held for rookies only after the first season.
Keeper leagues combine some of the features between dynasty leagues and standard draft leagues. A draft is held before the beginning of every regular season in order for many of the players to be drafted; however, owners can keep a select number of players from the prior season.
IDP leagues use defensive players in an individual manner rather than in defensive units. This type of league can be a bit harder to organize for the owners because it means more thought will usually need to be given to filling the other positions.
A survivor leagues uses just about any kind of draft you wish; however, they most commonly use auction or standard style drafts. The main difference between this type of league and all of the other leagues is that each week one team is eliminated based on who scores the least number of points.

Many players and teams are starting to get the message that off-ice warm-ups are never optional. Players must prepare the muscles they use to skate, shoot and save before every ice session if they want to guarantee that they feel and perform their best.
While most players do some kind of off-ice warm-up, many of them are not getting the maximum benefit from their pre-ice routine. Most start the warm-up with a few minutes of jogging and then finish with some quick stretches. The whole routine is usually over in less than 5 minutes – and that just isn’t enough time to get ready to perform your best.
To ensure that you come flying out of the gate in the first period, you must complete an off-ice warm-up that progresses through three different stages, mimics the same movements and intensity that players must use on the ice, and lasts at least 10 minutes.
General
The first stage is the general warm-up and typically involves low-intensity jogging.
While jogging for a few minutes increases blood flow and gets muscles loosened up, it doesn’t address a player’s hockey-specific needs.
Dynamic
After performing the general warm-up jog, players must perform exercises and drills that mimic the movements they will perform ice. The movements used in this part of the warm-up are commonly referred to as dynamic stretches, or stretching while moving. By performing simple movement patterns, such as side-shuffling and forward lunging, players will increase the readiness of the muscles used while playing hockey which will allow them to engage them more effectively out on the ice.
Specific
This final stage of the off-ice warm-up is extremely important – and often neglected. Although players will have ‘warmed-up’ the muscles and movements involved in playing the game through the previous two stages, they still need to address a critical need prior to stepping onto the ice – unpredictability.
Hockey is unpredictable – players are always “reading and reacting” to a game that changes constantly and this requires players to be both physically and mentally agile. By participating in small group games, such as variations of tag, players get used to the unpredictability of the game and this ensures that they are physically and mentally ready to hit the ice.
Properly progressing through these three stages of the off-ice warm-up will ensure that players are physically and mentally prepared perform their best on the ice.

The legitimacy of mixed martial arts fighter by most as the UFC, and has been repeatedly questioned and revised since its inception in 1993. As a result of so much clamor, the question arises – MMA is really so dangerous? It's like saying the sport so many people as primitive and disgusting? I mean, there are clashes, but it is enough to justify a ban on a national scale? I personally do not think so. Here's why.
Mixed Martial Arts is just that – mixed. This is a collection of different kinds of struggles. The UFC has fighters from wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, JuiJitsu and Tae Kwon Do background. Nearly all Olympic sports. So, you wonder. If these sports are good enough to attract the best athletes from around the world to compete in an event that honors them as such, then why not a sport that encompasses all these styles to be good enough? The answer is, it should be good enough and it is.
Many people say that MMA and UFC is dangerous because there are children that fighting is wrong and even venerable sign. But the argumentis absolutely water-free. If we ban everything and no violence, you have wrestling, video games and, yes, would our beloved sports Olympic ban above. But because of how society is not prepared to abandon these things, there is no reason for MMA and UFC ugling duckling.
